Alicia Blakey

Hello my name is Alicia Blakey. Most people don't know that my middle name is Lauren. Just thought I'd share. I could talk about how creative I am and blah blah blah, but I think I'll switch things up. I'll tell you a story instead. When I was 6, my babysitter fell asleep and I was bored. I decided to start a little art project to occupy myself until my mother got home. I very quietly got out my monster box of crayons (my prized possession) and my little step stool and proceeded to create an entire mural half way up from the floor all along the hallway connecting my parents bedroom to mine. I thought the colour my mom had painted it was ugly and the crayon drawing I had worked on so meticulously was a vast improvement from the puke green colour she had painted it 2 weeks earlier.

Well my mom got home from work and, needless to say, the babysitter got fired and I got E.T.B (Early To Bed) for 2 nights. Once again, my work was not appreciated. I specifically remember stomping down the hallway, slamming the door furious! Thinking how could she not see the hard work and genius in my masterpiece that took me like 4 hours to complete?. To a 6yr old thats, an eternity. Funny, I think my design career started that day. I am however glad I've progressed from stomping down hallways and slamming doors. Doesn't mean I wouldn't like to be 6 again.

If I only had McLachlan as teacher then, telling me to argue my design with finesse. Maybe I wouldn't have got E.T.B at all.
